Pink smoothie

DSC_9491

Hi everyone,

Today’s post is all about health. I’ve listed several new years resolutions for myself and among them there are those typical resolutions about being healthier. I always put those in there, and even though I think I was pretty healthy this year, I’m going to do even better next year.

I figured it didn’t make sense to wait till 2014 to eat/drink more vitamins, so I decided to make my first smoothie today already. I made this recipe up, and I hope there will be many other recipes to follow in the next couple of months. Continue reading

Workout or warm up?

For me being fit is something really important. I have always liked working out and especially running. I remember when I just started running that distances like 5k seemed so far! I didn’t know how to start on that and thought that I would need more than an hour. Today, running a 5k is an easy run, a run that I would do on a ‘rest day’. I run 5k in 25 minutes, so for me that’s a great accomplishment. 10k’s are getting easier too, but the hard part about those is that I want to finish them within an hour. I like running rather fast, so normally that’s not such a big problem to accomplish that!

In May I’m going to run my first half marathon in Santa Barbara and I can’t wait to start training for that one! I will follow a 12-week training program and since I’ve never done something like that before, I’m sure it’s going to be a huge challenge! 😉

What’s the longest distance you’ve ever ran?

Cocktails and Latin music in Palm Springs

Cocktails and Latin Music in Palm Springs

Since I first drove through Palm Springs a couple of months ago, I’ve been wanting to explore the area a little better. A couple of weeks ago I finally went there and walked around the strip for a bit. There was not too much to see, but the one thing that was remarkable was the super huge Marilyn Monroe statue that was standing in the middle of Palm Springs! Apparently she was discovered in that area! 😉

After walking around for about half an hour and taking pictures of the area, we went to Las Casuelas. This is a little latin bar where they serve delicious cocktails and where you can enjoy amazing live music in both Spanish and English. We started off the afternoon with a cocktail and we had some Corona’s as well! We really enjoyed hanging there and we loved watching all the people doing their little salsa steps on the dance floor!  😉 Continue reading

Welcome in cupcake heaven

A couple of months ago, Stacy brought some cupcakes home. The red velvet ones. I had never tried this taste before but I instantly loved it! They also had the best frosting on top and inside! So delicious! The weeks after she kept bringing me a cupcake every once in a while and I got so curious to see this little shop where she got them!

Last week we finally went to Susie Cakes in Manhattan Beach and I loved it! They had various types of cakes, cookies and cupcakes and everything looked delicious and really really pretty!  Continue reading

Loving him is so easy…

Fotor1214205053

Three months ago, I met this little baby boy for the first time. He was so small and very cute! I’ve been taking care of him for a while and now I’m back home for the holidays. I’m sitting here and wondering how easily it was for me to fall in love with this little guy.

A baby is such a little person who still has to learn everything in life, but even though they have only been in this world for a little time, they can bring so much joy to all of us.

Sometimes taking care of a baby is hard. Sometimes they are crying and you don’t know why. Sometimes they spit their food out right in your face. Sometimes they pull your hair because they think it’s funny. Little babies are always in action. They are watching around, crawling around, talking in their own little language. They just have to give you a little smile, or come to you for a hug and your heart gets filled with joy.

Slaiden is only 10 months old, but if I see how much he can do at his age I’m amazed. When I go to his room in the morning and he pulls himself up in his crib with a big smile, that’s the perfect start of my day. When I see him walking around, I start smiling. When he is reading in his books like a big boy, I think it’s the cutest thing ever. When he takes the spoon while I’m feeding him because he wants to do it all by himself, I’m amazed by what he can do. When he comes to me and grabs my leg, I fall in love, over and over again.

I miss him so much and I can’t wait till I’m back there to play, walk and just be with him!

Who is your most loved one? What makes you love that person even more? Please let me know in the comments below!

After three amazing months I’m going home for the holidays! I’m so excited to see my friends and family back, but I’m sad to leave my little American family behind! Good thing that I’m coming back in January! 😉

My first Thanksgiving

DSC_8600

Last week, I celebrated my first Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful experience, with friends that feel like family. I love how easily those people I celebrated it with let me into their family. I feel so comfortable with them and I’m incredibly thankful for having experienced it with them. I stayed in Palm Desert for the whole Thanksgiving week and it was so amazing! We had the yummiest food all week long! Continue reading
