Training for #werunsf

In 5 weeks I’m running the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Ever since I heart about this race I’ve been wanting to actually run it. The last 2 editions I would sit behind my phone on race days and check out the hashtags of the race so I could see how everything looked and which price the winners would get.  Continue reading

Take a break & enjoy the view

Sometimes, people tend to overdo. It often happens to me and then I end up injured on my foot or back, or something else that makes me feel bad comes up. Whenever I run, I need to take breaks. Not only because I feel tired or because I’m thirsty. Sometimes I just take a break because, especially when I’m running at the strand, I’m falling in love with the view. Continue reading

10 miles: A new milestone

10m 2 10m 3

Wake up with determination. Go to bed with satisfaction.

As you guys know, I’m following this running schedule that I set up a couple of weeks ago. In December and January I did a great job on following this schedule, but for the last 3 weeks I was first injured and than sick, so I really couldn’t run. Last Monday I started working out again and let me tell you, it was so hard to even just run 3 miles. I felt so out of shape!

I kept going through with the schedule though and in the weekend I ran so much. On Saturday I ran 8 miles and on Sunday I ran 10 miles! It was the first time I ran that far! For my Belgian followers, this is 16 km! I ran it in 1:24:50, which is a pretty good time I think. I want to run the half marathon I’m training for in 1:50:00. I think that’s going to be pretty hard for me still, but I have 11 more weeks to train for that. I’m just telling you guys this, not to make you feel bad about yourself or to make it look like I’m perfect in what I’m doing. No, I’m telling you guys this because I’m a human, just like everyone else, who loves cupcakes and pizza and who actually has a hard time to stay in shape and to be healthy. Yet, even though it’s hard, I went through with it, and I’m motivated to keep on running the extra mile, until I’m fully satisfied. Continue reading

Running schedule: Week 2

I took a picture of the Redondo Beach Pier as I included this gorgeous place in my 9 mile run! I loved the light and how the place looks just so busy and peaceful in the same time.

As a promised a couple of posts ago, I would keep on posting about my running and workout schedule and since I didn’t do last weeks post yet, I’m sharing it with you right now!

In the second week, I ran every mile that I had to, according to my schedule. This means that last Sunday I ran 9 miles (14,5 km). This was pretty heavy for me, but while I was doing it I felt great!

When I’m running I just feel happy. I feel like it’s the kind of activity that frees me. I feel great and full of energy once I start my run. When I see views like the one on the picture I feel incredibly blessed to be living in California and to be able to see the beauty of this place whenever I want to.  Continue reading

Running schedule: week 1

Screen Shot 2014-01-22 at 9.36.14 AM

Last week I ran 27 miles (43,5 km).

Never before have I run this much in only a week of time! I think the schedule I made is really hard, but if you plan in your runs, it’s easy to follow! The second run of last week was the hardest, because it was around 30 degrees Celsius outside, I walked all the way to the beach and then I ran 6 miles with the stroller! I had to take a break after 3,5 miles because I felt dizzy, because of the weather and the strength I needed to push the stroller. The other runs went pretty well!  Continue reading
