Today is the last post of the series of pictures I took at USC. I hope that through these post I inspired you guys to visit a big campus sometime, somewhere in the US. Walking through campuses like this one just gives you an amazing feeling. For people who didn’t grow up in the States, like me, it’s also kind of surreal, because you realize that what you see in the movies actually exists in real life. The battles between and parties at sorority and fraternity houses, campuses that look like film locations, huge gyms and pools on campus, cheerleaders by the side of football players… All of those things are not made up and it’s so funny that those clichés, as I like to call them, are happening in schools that are so close to where I am right now. Julie Crombé here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of LA’s elite…
Walking through USC is like walking in a movie scene. The buildings were gorgeous, photography students were taking pictures of the beautiful sorority girls who were about to graduate, there were little fountains, colorful flowers, a super old and thick tree and everyone is looking happy.
Paul, Slaiden’s dad, had been telling me lots of amazing stories of his years as a USC student and on Monday he decided to take a drive to the school to show Slaiden and me around. I was so excided, because USC is a really famous school and it was used as a shooting location for several movies such as Forrest Gump, The Girls Next Door and What Women Want.
I decided to take my camera, of course, to snap some pictures of both the school and this proud USC dad with his baby boy. I feel like people in the US are always really proud of the school they went to. They carry the memories of the time they spent there in their heart and when they grow older they often donate money to the school or the fraternity they were part of. Continue reading
A couple of weeks ago I had the car for myself for a whole week, which meant that I had the chance to explore some places out of my bubble (Redondo/Manhattan/Hermosa Beach). I went to Beverly Hills to walk around on Rodeo Drive and I loved it. People there are walking around with real and gorgeous Chanel bags, they are driving the coolest cars and they are wearing the most fashionable outfits. People actually wear high heels there, which is pretty different from the work-out clothes fashion situation in the city I live in! 😉 Continue reading
Cupcakes are my guilty pleasure as many of you know already. My absolutely favorite ones are the ones from Susie Cakes, but I’m always open to try out new places. Bottega Louie was on my list of places to go to when I was going to visit Downtown LA. I’d seen so many Instagram posts about this place that I wanted to go check it out for myself. Continue reading
The Los Angeles City Hall is a building that not only has appeared in many movies. It also is the perfect spot to get an amazing view over the city. You can get up to the 27th floor of the building and walk around on the deck. The top level of this building is a conference room with windows all around and there happened to be a conference the day I went there. I was taking selfies for Instagram and suddenly I saw all the people from inside the room looking at me! Awkward!! Anyway, I got a good picture for Instagram with all the high buildings in the background, so I didn’t really mind people watching me taking my shameless selfie! 😉 Continue reading
As some of you know already, I had spring break last week and I didn’t have to take care of the baby as he was at his grandparents’ house for the week. That made last week the perfect opportunity to finally explore the beautiful city of Los Angeles. As LA traffic is known to be crazy at all times and as parking is pretty expensive in the city, I ended up going by train, which was really easy because there was a station close to all the areas I wanted to see during my city tour.
One of the places I wanted to go to for a while already was Olvera Street. This street, located in downtown LA near to the Union Station, reminded me of Mexico. I remember walking around in Playa del Carmen a couple of years ago and seeing all kinds of colorful goodies on the little markets. This place was kind of the same thing. There was latin music playing, the smell of fresh tacos, hand-made bags and sandals and just a really nice atmosphere. Even though this place isn’t too big, I walked around there for about 2 hours and ate some delicious tacos with avocado sauce as you can see in one of the pictures below.
