#OOTD: Comfy/casual sightseeing outfit

A couple of weeks ago an American friend of mine visited me here in Belgium! She was only here from Saturday night till Tuesday morning so we didn’t have that much time but I still wanted to show her some nice spots in my country! We visited Brugge (Bruges), Brussel (Brussels) and Gent (Ghent) which is the city where I live.

The best way to go from one city to another in Belgium is by train. My friend Makara took some pictures of me down at the station and this was the result!

As it was a really hot day the day we wanted to go sightseeing I chose to wear a comfy dress with my converse shoes and I topped the outfit with a nice hat! Like that I even felt more like a tourist in my country cause as the top accessory I put my Nikon around my neck! 100% TOURIST… 😉

Citytripping in sunny Malaga

The second city I visited in Andalucía was Malaga. Because I didn’t want to spend too much to go from Sevilla to Malaga I decided to try a new way of traveling from one city to another. I chose to go by car through BlaBlaCar. I contacted Adrían after I saw that he was going where I wanted to go and for just 10 euros I travelled to Sevilla.

It’s definitely a way of traveling that I like, because you get to know locals and you get to talk with them which is really interesting. We didn’t have any dead moment during the trip and he even dropped me of in front of the house where I was meeting my friend! That’s a luxury way of traveling isn’t it? Otherwhise I would have had to figure out how to take the bus to the meeting point or I would even have to pay an expensive taxi!

When I arrived in Malaga, my friend Pedro introduced me to a Korean friend of his who was also staying in his house. After that he gave me a tour through the city. I really like to travel with locals because they know places in the city that random tourists wouldn’t see.

We walked by the beautiful harbor of the city, we climbed a hill to get to a viewpoint from where you have an amazing view over the city, we also saw the beach and walked by some other important places and monuments.

Sightseeing in Sevilla

Since I was done working and I had some days left in Spain, I decided to go for some quick visits in cities I still wanted to see! I went to Sevilla on Friday, Malaga on Saturday and Marbella on Sunday.

In this post I’ll show you some pictures of my quick trip to Sevilla! I’d heart a lot about this city already and I was really curious what made it so special. I loved it since the moment I arrived there. It’s a lot different from Salamanca. The main difference was the use of bikes! The streets are really wide and literally everyone is using a bike rather than a car.

I stayed at the Feeling Sevilla Hostel which I liked! It was not the same style of hostel as the ones I stayed in when I visited Portugal, but it had some huge benefits too! First of all it was on walking distance of the bus station and the second thing I liked was the bathroom. The showers were actually really private and they were like 2 square feet big, so they were really spacious too! The kitchen was also really nice. What I disliked though was that the lady who was at the reception didn’t have maps of the city left and she had no clue where the tourism office was, which I found a bit odd, cause it’s the one thing that all tourists want to know, no?!

Sightseeing in La Alberca

On Wednesday the people of the school where I’m currently doing my internship organised an excursion to a typical Spanish town, named La Alberca. They allowed to go, even though I was supposed to work that day, so I was so happy!

The town is really small but it’s the kind of town you imagine when you think about the old Spanish movies. At least I got that impression! It’s really beautiful to walk around and it was a great spot for taking pictures of the details of the place. I wouldn’t like to live there though because there is really not much to do. It’s so little that there is not even a supermarket!

We found ourselves talking to an American lady over there, who was geocaching. This is some kind of sport that is played all over the world. There are hidden more than a million things in the world and the coordinates of those things are listed on the website. It is a more adventurous way of traveling, so we really liked to help that lady to find what she was looking for, but in the end we didn’t find anything. I think someone accidently took it away and didn’t replace it.

I did love going there and that’s why I want to share some pictures of that day with you guys. 😉

 

#OOTD: Jardines de Sabatini Outfit

I decided that it was time for another outfit post!

While visiting Madrid I was looking for nice spots to take some fashion pictures with my friend. The gardens of the Royal Palace were the perfect spot for these pictures I wanted to take. The light was nice and the palace in the background made the pictures even more special!

Citytrip to Granada

In November I visited my sister Céline in Granada, where she was staying for her Erasmus program. I went there with a Honduran friend, named Mario.

We took a flight to Barcelona, and then we had a connection to Granada, but between the two flights we had to wait like 10 hours at the airport which was the worst experience ever! Because we arrived late, all the shops were closed and we just couldn’t do anything. In the end Mario bought us a bottle of wine, and after talking a while, we tried to get some sleep.

After we arrived in Granada, we visited an arena, but there were no bull fights at the time so we just went in for looking around. We also went visiting the famous Alhambra, which is some kind of famous palace with an amazing view of the city. We stayed there all day and even though you need to be in good shape to walk all the way up to the palace, we did it! (My sister and me were so happy that we didn’t wear high heels that day because it would have ruined everything!). We really enjoyed the amazing view and the sun shining ‘bright like a diamond’. After that visit we just wandered around in the city for taking random pictures.

Next to the touristic visits, we also tasted of the Spanish life at a house party of some friends of my sister. Everyone made a typical dish of his own country to take to the party. We made some kind of easy vanilla pudding with speculoos (those are my favorite Belgian cookies!). It was delicious and we were clearly not the only ones who thought so, cause we were almost immediately out of pudding! The thing I loved the most at that party was the fact that some Spanish guys were playing the guitar while singing Spanish songs. It was an amazing experience!

It was a really cool, but short trip!

Black & White-view of my trip to Zamora

Hi guys,

In this post I’ll write another review about a city in Spain that I visited. This time I’ll talk about Zamora.

Zamora is a city in the northwest of Spain, near the frontier with Portugal. It is crossed by the Duero river and they actually offer boatrides on the river, but sadly they only start those boat trips at the end of March. But there was of course more than just a river in the city. Zamora counts 24 Romanesque style churches, which makes it the city where you can find most churches of that style of all Europe.

We did a walking tour through the city and I think we passed like 15 of them.

On the Internet I read an article about the Holy Week in Zamora. Everyone in the city is celebrating and there are lots of activities during that week. When I visited the city last week, people of all ages were allready practising some songs that they are going to play during the festivities!

I took pictures of some views I liked. On the first picture, you see like a connection between 2 buildings. I can’t really say why, but I really liked this. It connected two buildings, of which one was completely different of the other one. It made me think about the group I was visiting the city with. We are all completely different persons, of all different countries (Belgium (me!), Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, Czech Republic & United States), but even though there are so many differences between us, we still connect, and we had a great time together!

On the second picture you can see the most original mailbox I’ve seen in my life. If there is living a little boy in that house, he is so lucky to have parents that are that original to put a mailbox like that!

On the next picture, I like the fact that the bridge was reflected in the water. That always makes me think of the pictures of cities in travel brochures, but I hadn’t seen that a lot of times for real until now.

The forth pictures show some kind of tree that I call ‘army-trees’. The have the color of camouflaged soldiers who are hiding in the woods. I put the picture in black and white now, but I’m sure that if you would see a tree like that for real, that you would immediately think on the soldiers too! 😉

On the last two pictures you see 2 images that you can find a lot in Spain. I personally love the typical streets that go up or down a bit. It’s typical for this country I guess. I’m not sure but I think that storks are really common in here. I saw some of them in Béjar allready too! (Check out my post about Béjar to know more about that!)

Trip to Toro

On Saturday i went to Toro with some friends.

Toro seems to be like a small medieval town in Spain, that comes straight out of an old movie. I was really imagining myself in that movie that I had in my head. The only thing that was missing were the people who were riding on their horses. When I didn’t see them anywhere, I went back to reality ;-).

The city/town is known for its wine and its many churches, so we went sightseeing and after that we enjoyed a glass a red wine.

Update for my fashion & streetstyle followers

From 14 till 16 March, I will go to Madrid with Serafien for taking lots of fashion pictures. I’m so excited! We are going to stay at the house of my Honduran hostsister Jeannette! She just told me today that her roommate’s friends will visit her at the same time, so it’s going to be crowded overthere, but I actually don’t mind! Crowded can be cosy too 😉

I love this kind of bags because they are basic, the color fits on nearly every outfit and in this case, it has a lot of space which means you can put everything you need for a day of sightseeing inside.
