The Los Angeles City Hall is a building that not only has appeared in many movies. It also is the perfect spot to get an amazing view over the city. You can get up to the 27th floor of the building and walk around on the deck. The top level of this building is a conference room with windows all around and there happened to be a conference the day I went there. I was taking selfies for Instagram and suddenly I saw all the people from inside the room looking at me! Awkward!! Anyway, I got a good picture for Instagram with all the high buildings in the background, so I didn’t really mind people watching me taking my shameless selfie! 😉 Continue reading
Just like for a lot of girls and women, it’s really hard for me to lose weight and to obtain the weight I have. I usually don’t really care about the number, but if I weigh in every once in a while and the number is really high, that’s a real disappointment for me. I work out a lot, which means I need a lot of food, so I stopped doing crash diets months ago, because they never help me anyway. I believe that changing your eating pattern helps way better to actually reach your goal weight.
On May 10th I’m running my first half marathon, and I felt like I was gaining so much weight lately and I was losing my motivation to really go for it. I just came back from a late birthday weekend with cake and cookies, and I loved it, but it just isn’t good for my body. I’ve been wanting to try a juice cleanse for a while now and after I read about Jus by Julie, I thought it would be the perfect occasion to start over with a clean body, great workouts and great self-confidence. As some of you know already, I had spring break last week and I didn’t have to take care of the baby as he was at his grandparents’ house for the week. That made last week the perfect opportunity to finally explore the beautiful city of Los Angeles. As LA traffic is known to be crazy at all times and as parking is pretty expensive in the city, I ended up going by train, which was really easy because there was a station close to all the areas I wanted to see during my city tour.
One of the places I wanted to go to for a while already was Olvera Street. This street, located in downtown LA near to the Union Station, reminded me of Mexico. I remember walking around in Playa del Carmen a couple of years ago and seeing all kinds of colorful goodies on the little markets. This place was kind of the same thing. There was latin music playing, the smell of fresh tacos, hand-made bags and sandals and just a really nice atmosphere. Even though this place isn’t too big, I walked around there for about 2 hours and ate some delicious tacos with avocado sauce as you can see in one of the pictures below.
A little while ago, Slaiden got the cutest little baby moccasins. After I saw them for the first time, I immediately knew that I had to get him those. I really like him to be dressed well every time I take him for a walk to the park or the beach. Other moms and au pairs (like myself) have probably experienced already that it’s not always easy to put shoes on baby feet. Sometimes it takes me up to 10 minutes to put shoes on the little guy’s feet. With these cute shoes I don’t have that problem! 😉
I had been wanting to go to this Diane Von Furstenberg exhibition for a couple of weeks now and since I had spring break this week and Slaiden was staying with his grandparents, I finally had the chance to explore LA and to go to some musea and monuments that were on my to-do list! I loved everything about this exhibition! The dresses were fabulous, the colors of the walls and patterns on the floors were gorgeous, there were amazing pictures hanging on the wall and it was just such a fashionable place to be. Do you ever have cravings for a healthy snack that contains protein and that doesn’t make you feel guilty after eating it? I wanted to make a raw cheesecake for a while now, but I also wanted to use quest bars because since I’m a runner, I could use the extra protein from protein bars.
