Not only did I visit Cayos Cochinos, Roatan and Omoa while in Honduras; I also visited the Pico Bonito area in La Ceiba. A very old little bus took us up to the mountains where the Pico Bonito national park is located. There are various ways to get to know this area, and one of them is to do so by white water rafting. This was a lot of fun and I’ll talk more about this experience in another post, but for now I just want to share some of the pictures I took of the amazing views around Río Cangrejal! This semester I took a couple of art classes and among those was a Lettering and Typography class. For one of the last assignments we had to pick a quote and chose a word that described the quote and we had to present it in a typographic way, which basically means that we couldn’t use images to illustrate the word. I discovered Humans of New York a couple of weeks ago and it has become one of my favorite blogs/Facebook pages. I find myself checking is various times a day, because the way this guy captures a moment in the lives of the people on the street is amazing. I admire him for being able to let people open up to a stranger. I love reading every single story. I really enjoy browsing through all the amazing pictures. I learn valuable life lessons by reading what people told him. Watch the video and check out the blog!
I stumbled upon this video today and I love the message that it brings with.
Watching videos like this one, make me happy. They make me see that there are actually people in the world who do things for other people without expecting anything in return. I love how the lady just stopped and changed the words and I loved how people are more inclined to do something good after seeing some positive words. I was really surprised that the blind guy trusted her so much that he just let her change the words. It shows that some people really do see the good on others.
I like stumbling up to positivity when I’m walking on the street, reading a book, listening a song or even browsing the web. I love how a simple quote can change your mood and how it can make you think about something a little deeper.
It’s that time of the year again… Thanksgiving week! It’s my first thanksgiving ever and I’m so excited! Yesterday we drove from Redondo Beach to Palm Desert as we are going to spend this holiday in the desert.
As for what they told me, thanksgiving week means lots of YOLO-food. And as the people who know me know, I’m all in for YOLO-food! 😉 For the last couple of weeks I have been running a lot and I was planning to continue working out as much as I could here too, because the place where we are staying at has the nicest gym! Unfortunately I’m injured and I just can’t run! I should go see a doctor, but I haven’t had time for that. Also I’m afraid of what he might say, because I love running and working out and I don’t want to put that on hold. On thursday we are going to do a 5k turkey run in Palm Springs, for which I’m super excited, and if my back isn’t better by the end of the week, I’ll go for a check up! 😉 Anyway my point is, I deserved a YOLO-week full of my favorite food.
I’m in charge of the mashed potatoes and the appetizers and what’s a better place to look for inspiration than Pinterest? 😉
How do you decide on the things you’re going to make? Where do you guys celebrate this holiday?
