Marathon #2: Rock ‘n Roll San Diego

SD-Race-Day-3-of-14

On Saturday, I started the day off with this fun event in Hermosa Beach, called FitFest. It’s basically a way for the city of Hermosa Beach to promote a healthy lifestyle. You get a team of 4 together and go by about 10 different booths/gyms to do a little 5-10 minute workout. We went from cross train routines, to yoga, to rope slams, to monkey bars to tire flips and it was awesome! My gym, Afterburn Fitness had a booth too, so naturally my team that consisted of Afterburnies loved that little workout!

Anyway, after this event in the morning I took a quick shower and headed out to San Diego where I would pick up my race packet. Continue reading

My main motivation to stay active: My Fitbit Charge HR

simple.b-cssdisabled-png.h55fcf5f4a903b145667e3a747918c3c9.pack

Let’s start at the beginning. I’ve always been the kind of person that gets super excited about new things, but after doing them for a while I get sick of them. Especially in sports. Every since I started my ‘healthy’ journey, I’ve been having ups and downs. Last year when I was training for my first half marathon, I really got into running, but after the race I took a break. I was planning on taking a break for 2 weeks, but 2 weeks turned into 2 months and before I knew it, the fit body I worked so hard for turned back into the body I had before I started running.

In June last year I got a Fitbit Zip and I fell in love the moment I got it. I’ve always liked technology and keeping lists and stats of what I do, so thanks to this little device that you just put in your pocket and the (free) Fitbit app I could keep track of my activity.  Continue reading

Make Fit Happen 1

I’ve started my last semester of college 3 weeks ago and I’m loving my classes. I’m only taking 2 classes and then I’ll have my Personal Trainer certificate, which is very exciting. One of the classes mostly focuses on how to coach and how to give one-on-one training. The other class is a workout class, which is great to help me get in shape before I take a job as a Personal Trainer.  Continue reading

Yoga with a view

Yoga (1 of 12)

About a month ago, my friend Sae, who I got to know through the Herbalife community, invited me to go down to the beach to do some yoga. I thought it was worth a try, since I had been wanting to get my first real yoga experience for a while now. And let’s be honest… What better setting to have a relaxing yoga session than right on the beach?! Continue reading

Training for #werunsf

IMG_0881

In 5 weeks I’m running the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Ever since I heart about this race I’ve been wanting to actually run it. The last 2 editions I would sit behind my phone on race days and check out the hashtags of the race so I could see how everything looked and which price the winners would get.  Continue reading

Review: Bulu Box April

DSC_2500

The Bulu Box of April was pretty full and the products I found inside were pretty interesting. My favorite of the month was the Swirl Green Tea because it tastes really well, helps you cut calories and increase health benefits and because it’s easy. It makes you enjoy drinking your ‘water’ and you can either infuse it in hot or cold water.

The other products in the box were: Continue reading

Work-out essentials: Natura Health Products (+ giveaway)

DSC_1796

I mentioned the Natura products that I was using in a previous post about my running essentials, but I didn’t really share all the information about the product because I was still in the starting phase of using the products. That’s why I decided to write a full article about it today. Keep reading if you want to know more about these products and if you want to make a chance to win them. Continue reading

Workout essentials: My go-to gym bag and the coolest capris

Gym bag - Onzie-4

Today I want to talk about the Gaiam Metro Gym Bag that I’m  not only using as a gym bag, but also as a diaper bag, hand bag and everyday bag. I had been looking for a good gym bag for a while, but I always found something that I didn’t like about the bags that I had before. This one is literally everything I need. It has 2 inside pockets so you can organise everything in there. There is a key holder which I also use to put my gym lock on, it has an outside pocket on the 4 sides and you can close those with magnetic buttons which is great. There is plenty of space inside to store your water, towel, weight training journal, vitamins and wallet and it’s just the most comfortable bag. I like both wearing it over my shoulders and in my hands. The color is pretty neutral too and it’s a nice fit with almost all of the workout clothes I own.  Another great thing about this bag is that it has straps on the bottom for your yoga or fitness mat.
