10 miles: A new milestone

Wake up with determination. Go to bed with satisfaction.

As you guys know, I’m following this running schedule that I set up a couple of weeks ago. In December and January I did a great job on following this schedule, but for the last 3 weeks I was first injured and than sick, so I really couldn’t run. Last Monday I started working out again and let me tell you, it was so hard to even just run 3 miles. I felt so out of shape!

I kept going through with the schedule though and in the weekend I ran so much. On Saturday I ran 8 miles and on Sunday I ran 10 miles! It was the first time I ran that far! For my Belgian followers, this is 16 km! I ran it in 1:24:50, which is a pretty good time I think. I want to run the half marathon I’m training for in 1:50:00. I think that’s going to be pretty hard for me still, but I have 11 more weeks to train for that. I’m just telling you guys this, not to make you feel bad about yourself or to make it look like I’m perfect in what I’m doing. No, I’m telling you guys this because I’m a human, just like everyone else, who loves cupcakes and pizza and who actually has a hard time to stay in shape and to be healthy. Yet, even though it’s hard, I went through with it, and I’m motivated to keep on running the extra mile, until I’m fully satisfied.

For the 10 mile run I first ran 5 miles, then took a break and shot the pictures of this post. Sorry for the quality btw! I used an app with a timer to take those pictures, but since it was so dark already, the quality is a little off.

I hope you guys all get motivated to get out there and to start training. If you need some motivation, just tell me and I’ll post some more motivational quotes and messages on here!

What do you think about sunset runs? What’s the furthest you’ve ever ran? Let me know in the comments below!

Very cool! Congrats! If you’re worried about making your goal time, I would suggest adding in track and speed work to your plan. Track workouts are painful, but they really help you get faster!
