3-day juice cleanse by Jus by Julie

Just like for a lot of girls and women, it’s really hard for me to lose weight and to obtain the weight I have. I usually don’t really care about the number, but if I weigh in every once in a while and the number is really high, that’s a real disappointment for me. I work out a lot, which means I need a lot of food, so I stopped doing crash diets months ago, because they never help me anyway. I believe that changing your eating pattern helps way better to actually reach your goal weight.

On May 10th I’m running my first half marathon, and I felt like I was gaining so much weight lately and I was losing my motivation to really go for it. I just came back from a late birthday weekend with cake and cookies, and I loved it, but it just isn’t good for my body. I’ve been wanting to try a juice cleanse for a while now and after I read about Jus by Julie, I thought it would be the perfect occasion to start over with a clean body, great workouts and great self-confidence. Take a break & enjoy the view

IMG_4196

Sometimes, people tend to overdo. It often happens to me and then I end up injured on my foot or back, or something else that makes me feel bad comes up. Whenever I run, I need to take breaks. Not only because I feel tired or because I’m thirsty. Sometimes I just take a break because, especially when I’m running at the strand, I’m falling in love with the view. Continue reading

Recipe: Guilt-free chocolate

DSC_1354

One of my favorite snacks is chocolate. I know that lots of people will agree with me when I say that it’s not easy to say no to chocolate when it’s offered to you. I’ve been trying out quite a few clean recipes lately, but I have to admit that this is one of my favorite ones. What would you think of eating chocolate without feeling guilty about it? Wouldn’t that be amazing? For me, it sure is! The best of all is that it takes you no more than 10 minutes to make these raw, vegan & gluten free chocolates. Continue reading

Health essentials: Maty’s Healthy Products

DSC_1080

A little while ago, I decided for myself that I would start living a healthier lifestyle. Every since starting school, I have a pretty busy schedule. I take care of the baby during the day, rush to school in the nights, make sure I follow my running schedule 5 days a week and do homework whenever I find the time. When everything feels like a rush in your life (Don’t understand me wrong, I love the life I’m living and I chose to be so busy!), a good night of sleep is extremely important.

I have always been a bad sleeper. I used to barely need any sleep. I was ok with sleeping 6 hours a night, but after I got mono/Pfeiffer’s disease about 6 years ago, I started needing much more sleep, which was a hard thing for me. The amount of hours you sleep is part of your lifestyle and suddenly I had 2 hours less to be productive during the day.  Continue reading

March Workout Schedule

Training for a half marathon is not an easy thing to do. It asks for a lot of motivation, dedication and will power. You can’t just show up at the race without months of preparation. I tell you, that would be mission impossible.

Next to running 5 days a week, I also have a weight lifting class (1,5 hour) on Monday and Wednesday evening and since I would love to actually have abs when showing off in my bikini in a couple of months, I added the Lorna Jane Ab Challenge to my workout week too.  Continue reading

Before & After: 2009 vs now

Before and after

The first 3 pictures were taken in 2009, the last ones were taken in 2011. I shared the first picture to show you how swollen my face was and how it is actually possible to change your whole look. I included the second picture to let you know how that reducing the fat on your back can make you look so much more beautiful. The last picture is one of my sisters and I. We all look so much better and more grown up in the last group picture! Yay! 😉

As I value health a lot, and since many of you don’t really know my story, I decided to start March with my body transformation story.

Back when I was a kid, I was a really picky eater. I only ate things I was really familiar with and I remember having to stay at the table for an hour after my sisters and parents were done eating, just because I didn’t want to eat what was on my plate. Sometimes I didn’t even know what it tasted like, but I just didn’t want to eat it.

I remember that I was 13 and I went to my first party. Continue reading

LA winter calls for an ice cold green drink

DSC_9956

You’ve probably saw it already on the Instagram posts of your favorite LA bloggers, but in case you didn’t I can assure you… This year’s LA winter is hotter than ever. With temperatures around 85 degrees Fahrenheit (+/- 30 degrees Celsius) it is almost too hot to go for a run, which isn’t really good for my training schedule. 😉 On Wednessday I went for a 6 miles run and after 3,5 miles I had to take a break because I couldn’t stand the heat anymore. Anyway, with these temperatures it’s really important to keep hydrated, and what’s a better way to do that than to make a delicious green drink?! Continue reading

Half marathon training plan

Screen Shot 2014-01-12 at 1.52.08 PM

I’ll run my first half marathon on the 10th of May. I’m so excited for this Wine Country Half because first of all it’s a huge challenge for me as I’ve never ran more than 12 km in one run and second of all I’ll get to see a new part of California. I will probably be able to make some great shots over there! So excited!

I was looking online for good training plans, but couldn’t find anything that I really liked so I made one myself, based on some plans that I found online. First of all I wanted 2 rest days a week, because I’ll be busy and I will really need my rest. I also was looking for a plan for an intermediate runner. I easily run 8k, so I didn’t want to start with a schedule that started with distances below 5k.  Continue reading

First beach run of 2014

Screen Shot 2014-01-11 at 8.22.59 PM

This morning, I decided to go for a run at the strand. Since I had arrived here, I’ve been so busy that I hadn’t found the time to go to the beach. I was so excited to go for a run today and you can probably imagine how disappointed I was to see that it was this foggy! I couldn’t even see the water! I do appreciate the beauty of this view though and I must say that this was the perfect weather for working out. I could feel little drops of water in the fog and they were so refreshing during my run.  Continue reading
