Last week I traveled with a baby for the first time.
Paul, Stacy, Slaiden and I went to Seattle for the week and I can’t wait to share my pictures of the trip with you guys, but in this post I want to talk about the trip there. I had packed Slaiden’s bags before when we went on a road trip, so I knew what I had to do, but little did I know what traveling to another state by plane is with a baby. You need to bring a stroller, a car seat, a high chair, a baby backpack… I mean, the list doesn’t stop. Traveling with a 16-month old is not easy. It asks for organization, teamwork and most of all patience.
Slaiden loved watching all the planes take off at the airport and he loved running around there, but he didn’t really like sitting still on the plane. On the way up to Seattle it was hard to entertain him and he was basically crying until he was so exhausted that he fell asleep. On the way back he was playing really well, reading books and eventually fell asleep, so that was great.
My tips when you travel with a baby are that you should take enough food and milk. Bring a couple of toys and books too. Slaiden loved going through the magazines on the plane (and ripping them apart!). He was also very entertained by my headphones, so that might be another cool thing to bring. I also kept showing him little videos of him that I took with my phone to keep him quiet.
The conclusion of this whole adventure is that traveling with a baby is pretty hard, but if you entertain the baby the right way, the flight is over before you know it!
