A walk through Olvera Street

Slaiden One 1

As some of you know already, I had spring break last week and I didn’t have to take care of the baby as he was at his grandparents’ house for the week. That made last week the perfect opportunity to finally explore the beautiful city of Los Angeles. As LA traffic is known to be crazy at all times and as parking is pretty expensive in the city, I ended up going by train, which was really easy because there was a station close to all the areas I wanted to see during my city tour.

One of the places I wanted to go to for a while already was Olvera Street. This street, located in downtown LA near to the Union Station, reminded me of Mexico. I remember walking around in Playa del Carmen a couple of years ago and seeing all kinds of colorful goodies on the little markets. This place was kind of the same thing. There was latin music playing, the smell of fresh tacos, hand-made bags and sandals and just a really nice atmosphere. Even though this place isn’t too big, I walked around there for about 2 hours and ate some delicious tacos with avocado sauce as you can see in one of the pictures below.

What do you think about the pictures? Do you know any Mexican places in the LA area that I should try out? Let me know in the comments below!

Lovely colorful photos! I am coming up to my one year living in LA this June, and still haven’t made a dent in exploring this city! Thanks for sharing, I will have to check out Olvera Street one day πŸ™‚

You should! LA life tends to be so busy that we can’t find the time to be a tourist in our own city! I’ve been living here for 5 months now and last week was my first time in DTLA! Don’t wait to long! Just go & explore! You won’t regret it! πŸ˜‰

Try Pacos Tacos on Washington Blvd- Mar Vista. Yummy margaritas also. I also love Tito’s Tacos in Culver City. They have an excellent pulpy salsa and its worth the extra money for cheese. Olvera Street is a nice spot- smart to take the train!! Glad you enjoyed.
